Census 2010

MAKE SURE YOU GET COUNTED!!!

If you have not received a Census form the Grant Township Center and Wauconda Library should have forms available.  Both numbers are on the Links & Information page if you would like to call ahead.  If you have questions about the form contact the Census Bureau's Vernon Hills Office at 847-613-6760.

In case you need to find a Census Help Center near you to get replacement forms or need assistance in completing the form, go to the Census 2010 website, which is linked below, and at the bottom right corner are the links for valuable information.  Enter your zip code and you will be informed and directed to the nearest Census Help Center. The ‘Take 10’ challenge is asking America to ‘take 10 minutes’ to mail back their census forms.

Update/Leave – Census operation where Census workers update paper versions of Census address lists and maps and leave questionnaires at housing units in mainly rural areas without street names and/or house numbers.  Household respondents are expected to fill out the questionnaires and mail them to data capture centers

Taken every 10 years, the census affects political representation and directs the allocation of billions of dollars in government funding.  Help ensure that everyone in the community is counted.

The simple, short questionnaire takes just a few minutes to complete and return by mail.  The Census Bureau protects information that identifies respondents or their households for 72 years.  Census questionnaires will be mailed to every residence in March, 2010.

The 2010 Census will shape the future of the community, define your voice in Congress and generate local employment opportunities.  Census information helps determine locations for schools, roads, hospitals, child-care and senior citizen centers.  Businesses use census data to locate supermarkets, shopping centers, new housing and other facilities.  The census determines how many seats each state will have in the U. S. House of Representatives as well as the boundaries of legislative districts.

The 2010 Census will create hundreds of thousands of temporary jobs across the nation.  Each Census employee has identification issued by the federal government, so make sure it is presented to you if they come to your door.
